Day 8: Sat 22nd : Kirkby Stephen to Keld

So the weather forecast was not good. We were expecting persistent rain for at least half the walk, but the weather was kind again. We did have rain but it went from mizzle to light rain to damp low cloud and back to light rain. 

The walk was challenging as we were walking mainly through bog land. We were not able to go up over Hartley Fell as they want to limit the Fell erosion, so they have alternative routes. It means we missed out on the Nine Standards Rings but they were covered in clouds so we would not have got the views. This is a slightly longer route and takes us onto a road. It was hard going underfoot as you had to cross lots of streams and negotiate soggy bogs but it was only a total of 22 Km. 

There is nothing between Kirkby Stephen and Keld and Keld is tiny.

Tomorrow we are off to Grinton which is a short 17km. Weather looks ok in the morning
