Day 6: Thu 20th: Patterdale YHA to Shap
Very tough day today with a total ascent of 961m and descent of 873m.
We departed Patterdale at 8.10 and crossed the river and were straight into the climb, which traversed the side of the valley up to a plateau at 500m.
Crossing the River
River that Feeds Ullswater
View back across the valley. The building on the left is the YHA, the building next to it is the River View pub, the only two establishments we visited in Pattersdale.
The view down the valley and the path we have just came up. This is at about 500m.
This is the view up they valley from the same point.
The next set of photos are as we walked over the the plateau before we reached Angle Tarn.
Short video on the plateau.
Highest point on the Coast to Coast
Haweswater Reservoir
We made good progress along a difficult path. After the reservoir, it was pretty uneventful walking through farmland.
Stopped for a chocolate break (Galaxy Caramel)
